Planting Garlic

Garlic planting

For Matariki, on the shortest day of 2019 we planted garlic. The garlic should be planted between April and August. We sprinkled lime on the soil. Then we broke the bulb into cloves and pressed the cloves into the well dug soil. Garlic likes to be about 5cm deep in the dirt with their  pointy end facing upwards. That is where the shoots come up. Gently we placed them in the soft soil. Our teacher and our gardening teacher calved trenches in the soil for our garlic to be installed into. We fetched one clove at a time then cleverly parked it into the trenches.

Never do this!

Never eat garlic that has been treated because there are nasty things in their that are not good for humans. Only eat garlic out of your garden.
