Planting Garlic

Garlic planting

For Matariki, on the shortest day of 2019 we planted garlic. The garlic should be planted between April and August. We sprinkled lime on the soil. Then we broke the bulb into cloves and pressed the cloves into the well dug soil. Garlic likes to be about 5cm deep in the dirt with their  pointy end facing upwards. That is where the shoots come up. Gently we placed them in the soft soil. Our teacher and our gardening teacher calved trenches in the soil for our garlic to be installed into. We fetched one clove at a time then cleverly parked it into the trenches.

Never do this!

Never eat garlic that has been treated because there are nasty things in their that are not good for humans. Only eat garlic out of your garden.

Frost!

Frost!
All night the spiders wove.
With dewy vines hanging down
from the tree their web sits in.
We calve handprints on the tops of tables.
Plus our fingers go numb because of the bleakness.
The webs of spiders add to trees with their beauty!
Also the leaves drop on flocks as white as goats.

Tonui Collab

On Tuesday 18th of June, the Tonui Collab came to our school. We talked about how rubbish is bad for the sea. They  taught us to use a game called Plotagon. Iris and I love making each other because you really get a chance to look at your friend and put in lots of detail. Here are some photos for you to look at.

The Beaut Ukes Performance!

On the 14th of June The Beaut Ukes performed at the War Mermorial Theatre,
I was waiting back stage when Scott called us up on stage. All of a sudden my nerves ran out of me and the excitment rushed into me. I could see people, people and more people.
I started playing and felt happness of being up on stage.
We were qutie a small group but we still kept the volume. I smiled And sang loudly at the same time. I didn't really move my feet probably because I was a bit stage shocked.
When I was finished I felt proud when mum told me I did well.

2019 About Me

Hi my name is Isabel and my school is Matawai. I have five people in my family - one brother and one sister. I am the oldest kid in the family. I live on a farm too.

I am good at climbing trees and I enjoy playing soccer. I also enjoy mathematics. Sometimes it is hard because sometimes I don't understand what book work is telling me. My goals are to get better at math and the challenges it gives me.

I am looking forward to soccer this weekend. I am also looking forward to getting my blog because then I can do a lots of posts and everyone can see what I'm doing. The person that inspires is Bear Grylls. He is an amazing explorer who takes on amazing expeditions.
