Home School - Pirate Ship

On Wednesday 25th of March 2020 my siblings and I found a old boat of our great grandad's. We made it into a pirate ship. First we made a flag. We got a old sheet and my little brother painted a yellow x on it. That went on the back of the boat. Then we made our clothes out of the same sheet that we used for the flag. I made a rickety old skirt and painted it's with splodges of blue green yellow and red. Then we decided to make a steering wheel. this was made out of a ice cream container lid and a piece of suplejack.I nailed the lid onto the suplejack and stuck that at the front of the boat. I made a sail out of two big sticks and that same sheet. in tied the sheet to the to the sticks and jammed the sticks to the sides of the boat. Next came the swords. I got two sticks and crossed them over each other. Then I taped them together. Now meharties! We shall go find some tresure!!

Wealso had a pirate song

Here it is:
Pirates, pirates, The Jolly Children,
try to beat us and we will always win!
We are fiece and will win......  because.....
We're
THE JOLLY CHILDREN!

We named our boat The Jolly Children!

  1. Hi Isabel
I LOVED reading your pirate ship post. What an awesome, creative project for you and your siblings to undertake. It is neat to hear all the ways that you reused items to make clothing and flags and what a great idea to use supplejack for your steering wheel...it is so flexible I could imagine you would be able to steer your ship.
Did you manage to find any treasure?
I am so sure your Great Grandad would be thrilled to think you were all having so much fun in his old boat!

Take care and thank you for sharing your pirate adventures 'meharties'
    Bye for now

  4. Hi Isabel
    It´s Maddison
I really like how you made your boat look so cool. How long did it take to make great job your boat looks like it should go to sea.
